Add Your BoostSuite Tracking Code to iWeb Site

Last Updated: Sep 11, 2016 03:31PM EDT
I'm going to show you how add the BoostSuite tracking code to your iWeb website. iWeb makes this a lot trickier than many other website systems, but that's okay, there are a few steps involved and I'll point you to some resources below.

Install the BoostSuite tracking code on your iWeb website:

First, here's the BoostSuite tracking code you'll need in the following steps.

<script type="text/javascript">
    (function() {
    var bs = document.createElement('script');
    bs.type = 'text/javascript';
    bs.async = true;
    bs.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https' : 'http') + '://d2so4705rl485y.cloudfront.net/widgets/tracker/tracker.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
    s.parentNode.insertBefore(bs, s); })();
    </script>

Option 1) Use a Free Text Editor to Implement the BoostSuite Tracking Code Manually

Follow the instructions here (with two exceptions): http://www.allaboutiweb.com/2008/11/google-analytics-for-iweb/

Exception 1: These instructions are for adding Google Analytics, which you can also do, but for our purpose here just use the BoostSuite javascript code any time the instructions refer to the Google Analytics javascript code.

Exception 2: In the step that tells you to find/replace the HTML BODY tag "Find: </body>" just replace the four letters of body with the four letters of head.

The pros of this option are that it's free and quick. The cons are that it may be less reliable than option #2 below, ie: it might only add the BoostSuite tracker to some (not all) pages of your website.

Option 2) Use a $29.95 Tool to Implement the BoostSuite Tracking Code Automatically

Follow the instructions here (there is a really nice tutorial video): http://www.ragesw.com/blog/2010/06/10/iweb-seo-tool-1-8-adds-support-for-new-google-analytics-features/

Again, these instructions are for adding Google Analytics, which you can also do, but for our purpose here just use the BoostSuite javascript code any time the instructions refer to the Google Analytics javascript code.

After you paste the BoostSuite tracking code into the HEAD section box, make sure to use the "Apply to Entire Site" option on the Site Settings Tab to make sure that the code is applied to every page of your website.

The pros of this option are that it's simple and automatic and should work perfectly on every page of your site. The cons are the one-time $29.95 cost.

In Summary

Regardless which option you chose, when it's done, visit your website's homepage and click around to a few pages on your website. Then return to your BoostSuite account and go to Articles > Tracking Code to confirm we're receiving data from your website.

Please let us know if you have any trouble following either of these options. You only need to choose one of these options here in order for the tracking code to be added to your website.
