Google Analytics E-Commerce Linking

Sonja Feb 01, 2017 10:34AM EST

I'm new to BoostSuite and I'm not sure if it's working because I keep getting an email notice saying it isn't completely set up. I did all the steps. When I did the final step of linking Google Analytics, on my BoostSuite dashboard it says -

No Transactions Found
Complete a test order from your website to confirm order data is flowing to Google Analytics.

I do not know how to complete a test order from my website because it is not an e-commerce site, it is a site for marketing services.

Any recommendations on how to complete this step?

Hi Sonja,

For businesses that are not ecommerce stores, BoostSuite measures results using the Google Analytics "Goals" ( feature. Website owners can use this feature to determine when any visitor has reached a high value page (or action or event) on their website.

Goals have to be configured manually by users in their own Google Analytics accounts, and to create and configure effective goals, users may want to consult a website marketing expert for help. Once the goals are set up, though, BoostSuite uses them just like revenue data in ecommerce store (i.e.: more is always better).

It is important to create a goal and hit it so that BoostSuite can ensure that we are getting the data. If you already have a goal set up, you just need to perform a test visitor session on your website and hit the goal. This will send goal data through to Google Analytics so BoostSuite can confirm that everything is configured properly.

What BoostSuite needs to know from users is the single goal in their Google Analytics they would like us to measure when determining their results from BoostSuite advertising. Each Goal in Google Analytics has a Goal Group ID (usually 1 through 4) and a Goal ID within that group (usually 1 through 4 as well). BoostSuite needs the Group ID and Goal ID of the goal that you as a user want BoostSuite to track.

Once BoostSuite has that information, we can use that goal instead of ecommerce data.

Thanks for writing in!
